The story of this fleece is a little long. It started out as part of the Protective Combat Uniform system, but was amalgamated into the Extreme Cold Weather System without actually changing any of the nomenclature. Mostly. But for the longest time this was the only part of the PCU that your average Joe saw.
And boy is this thing cozy. It runs a full size big, and that makes it perfect for layering or just lounging around in it. It doesn't look crazy professional with the ACU, but really who cares? Its so nice even the US Air Force wore it.
The sides also have the same material as the level 2 waffle shirts for stretch and breathing while remaining warm. The collar can be zipped all the way up for extra warmth.
The jacket also comes with two 1"x5" strips of loop velcro for name and branch tapes, and a 2"x2" square of loop velcro centered above the right one for rank.
