Sizing

Our sizing is based almost entirely off of the U.S. Battle Dress Uniform sizing system. This system is also in use with almost every manufacturer of military clothing today. We have provided the official measurements of the system here in U.S. and metric. Some items (mostly foreign items) will be converted into the U.S. sizing system for simplicity, but we will provide the original country’s measurement system alongside it, and information on how it fits.

Jackets, parkas, and other layering items will generally be oversized for layering underneath. In this case, the item will be sized by how it is supposed to be worn. We will also provide info on how to make it fit more fashionably if you don’t want to layer it.

WW2 M1917A1 Kelly Helmet - Restoration Grade #030

Description Material

This is a genuine US M1917A1 helmet. Helmet is in untouched condition, exactly as it came to us as part of a large lot of 1917's, 1917A1's, and even some British MkI helmets.

Also known as a the "Kelly Helmet", these were adopted in the years leading up to WW2. They featured a improved suspension over the original 1917 helmets. While some 1917A1's used new production shells from the 1930'/early 1940's, this one features a WW1 production shell.

This helmet is what we will call restoration grade. Shell and liner are present, but there is some significant rust on the shell and bits of the liner. The chinstrap buckle has quite a bit of rust, and is rusting through the strap. Please see pictures for condition.

Lot code is ZC248.

Helmet would be an excellent candidate for some restoration.
